Online Journal Entry 1

“The expectations of life depend upon diligence; the mechanic that would perfect his work must first sharpen his tools.” ~Confucius.
Sophomore year.  How does it feel to not be the little freshmen anymore?  Older?  Wiser?  More Experienced?  Just taller?  Anything!  Now that this next new adventure has begun, what are your expectations for this school year?  Are you going to participate in a new activity?  Go out for a new team or club?  What are the goals you have set for yourself?  Get better grades?  Be more outgoing?  Discover a love for literature you didn't know you had?  Hey, I can dream!  Take a few minutes and then write a journal entry describing what you would like to see yourself accomplish throughout the next year.  Then, as Confucius so wisely said, think about the diligence and tools you will need to succeed in achieving those goals and describe how you will work things those in to your plan as well.  It's only the fourth day of school; the year is wide open with possibilities.  Don't just wait and see what happens.  Make a plan!  The future starts now; what are you going to do with yours?

  1. Being a Sophomore isn't really all that different than being a Freshman, I don't yet feel wiser, but I do feel more expierenced then the new Freshman. It's funny to see them in the halls freaking out trying to find their classes. This year I am going to work to get better grades because I have more important classes. I want to be able to get a scholarship, therefor I have to work really hard and try my best to get all A's and B's. This year should be fun and I'm looking forward to it.

  2. It really doesnt feel very different being a sophomore. You just get more privledges then you did as a freshman I guess. This year I hope to do alot better grades wise then I did last year, I slacked off in school and let my grades slip. So this year and the rest of my years in highschool I want to try as hard as I can. I might join FFA with my friends but I havent really decided. So this year should be a way better year atleast grades wise. Im really excited what this year has in store.

I cant wait for with this year holds for me!!!

  4. It feels great to not be a Freshman anymore! Although, I'd rather be a senior.(: I don't feel smarter, or the least bit taller! I just feel a little bit more respected. My expectations for this school year are to get all A's on mostly all of my report cards! I'm going to try out for dance team this year, I LOVE dancing! Its a way to express myself through music(: Last year I did Football Cheer. I feel that it made me more outgoing, but I would absolutely love to be outgoing around anybody! In the future, I'm going to go to college. I'm not for sure what i would like to be yet... just following God's plan! I would love to be a beautician even though they don't yet much money.. or a radiologist!

  5. There is a lot of things i want to do this year! I'm looking forward to joining the dance team possibly. It's time to finally get involved with a school activity that I'm good at. I also want to make a new club. Hopefully, I get it approved because it's something i really want to do! I don't want to say quite yet because I don't know if it will work out... Anyways, I really do want to make better grades this year. I need to step it up and get all the credits I can this year! :)

  8. Well now that I am not a Freshmen any more I feel more mature. My goal is to get straight A's and try to make myself a better student to the students and to the teachers. The activity that I am going to participate in is Baseball. I would also like to get perfect attendence this year so that i will be able to pick my classes for next year. This year I dont really have lots of friends in classes but that is better in two ways i can make new friends and I can focus on my grades.

  9. This sophomore year i feel like i am alot taller than the freshmen. Even though i was a midget last year. I also feel older than the freshmen and i feel like i know more than than they do. This school year i am planning to get mostly A's and to get stronger in the weight room. this year i am also going to work on being a better student and to listen more. 11. I have been homeschooled for the past 2 years and this is my first year of highschool. One thing i whant to acomplish this year is to learn a new language, the language i chose was spanish. i chose spanish because when i go to a forign country i can get around. Another goal i whant to achieve is to increase my skills in music, because i play the guitar. I have benn playing guitar for 4 years, and hopefuly i'll become a writer.

  12. personally i am so happy that i am not a freshmen anymore!!!!! I dont feel that different but i feel like 10 pounds have been lifted from my shoulders! i feel all the drama i had from my freshmen year is gone and much much simpliar!
I'm ready for a fresh start. lol fresh start even though i'm no longer a freshman. haha but anyways my goal is to get grades no worse than a C i want to be able to pass this year with no faleing grades cause i do not! want to go to summer school again.
Something i've learned to be different at than last year is my ability to deal with things. last year if somthing negitive would of happened in my life i would of got mad and frustrated doing nothing but makeing others feel the same way i did. but this year i figured going threw life angree all the time is not even worth it. i would rather be happy than angree.
I've never really been into sports. i'm in ladies seclect ensamble. i like to sing and wright thats actually what i plan on doing with my future life after i graduate.
I plan on achiveing this goal by not being lazy and getting off the couch!!!!!! I know it will be diffucult for me because i would much rather talk my way outta doing somthing then actually doing it. Even though it may seem impossible for me to try i think i can o it. i beleve you can acomplish anything as long as you set your mind to it! and thats what im going to do this year instead of nothing I'm actually going to set my mind to completly doing it. :)

  13. I hear sophomore year is a 'blehh' time of year in High School because...well...it's just sophomore year, but I won't make it that way. I make my own attitude out of life and I plan to make it a positive one. I plan on joining the trap team. Also Spanish Club. I expect to gain more knowledge and experience throughout this year and maintain good grades. I'm gonna make the best out of this year!

  15. Being a sophomore, makes me feel older (weirdly). I like not being the youngest and not knowing what to do. Hopefully i will do basketball cheer. This year i want to get great grades. And make sure my GPA stays up. In the future i want to go to collage, i would like to go to Penn state or Mizzou. To study to be a physical therapist. Hopefully this year will be awesome and drama free. :)

  16. it feels good to not be a freshman this year! i finally got a job at the mosaic grill, im super excited about that. I feel alot older and mature now. i havnt grown in three years so im definitly not taller:) my expectations for the school year is to get straight A's so your gonna be hearing alot from me(: cant wait to start driving, its coming up! cars are expensive so i have to start saving up.

So yeah, sophomore year! It's not really that different. I mean, you're still an underclassmen, so you're still not that high on the food chain. But hey, I'm an awesome sophomore, so it's still pretty great to be a sophomore. I guess my goal is to be more outgoing this year. I usually just stick to my own thing and leave other people alone because i dont know what to say.

  18. I would like to see myself accomplish not falling asleep so late at night, because I always get to bed after eleven, on school nights, and get up at four forty-five... In the future, I'm gonna be a vet, because I have loved animals since I was a little girl. Always caring for animals is the way my mind works. About not being a freshmen, I feel great. I feel more experienced. Earlier, when we were all in our band sheild (uniforms...) I was in front of some freshmen, who didn't know which way to get to the auditorium. It felt great to tell them, "it's this way." (: I already get good grades, so I'm not too worried about that. Me and Sophie12 are buddies (:

  19. Now being a sophomore I don't feel much different. Though it is nice to know you aren't the youngest in the school anymore and you do actually know whats going on, where to go, and how to act. I will continue playing basketball but don't plan on joining anything else. One of my goals is to get better grades, not that i had bad grades before, but even better then what i had last year. Being a sophomore sounds good but I'm definitely looking forward to junior and senior year.

  20. Well back in Utah, 9th grade is still considered junior high so technically this is my first year of High School. And so far it ROCKS. I remember when i was a little kid and i thought High School kids were really big and bad but now I'm one of them and its pretty awesome. This year I am joining track but i don't know what I'm doing yet. I'm thinking about hurtles. And I'm going to work my hardest to get A's and B's this year and just be an all around rockin' kid. And that's my plan for my Sophomore year.

  21. Well this year i plan on working on my studies more. my plan is to work harder to have good grades. Ive been in french club sense last year and i plan on sticking with it. At least for this year. I also consider myself out going, and i plan on meeting and getting closer to new people. English is already my favorite subject. I'm excited to see what this year has got in hands for me That is my plan for my sophomore year.(:

  22. It doesn't really feel any different then freshman year. Honestly expectations are not really high I mean sure better grades but nothing to big. I just want to do better than last year. I am not really into clubs but i might end up doing sports or something i don't know yet. I like lit. but not a lot of it.

  23. It feels good to not be a little freshman anymore. I actually know what is going on, on the first day. Or any day. I want to join the dance troupe, or basketball cheer. I also want to join the girls soccer team. I want to get more involved in school. I wasn't very involved last year. Also, I am going to try way harder this year than I did last year, to get better grades, and to pay more attention in class. I want to be a pediatrician when I'm older, so I need to do great in science. Then, continue on. I want to have a great sophomore year!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sophomore, hmmmm.... I'm so excited for this year! I can already tell that it's going to be difficult but my mom is defiantly going to make sure I am prepared to do my best. I don't feel much older but I feel more responsible for things. Homework is already getting hard. I set a goal for really focusing on my work though. The work will be hard but I love being a cheerleader and cheer leading seems like a break from all the work so I'm grateful! I'm excited for the games and pep rallys to come and getting to know all the new freshman cheer leaders coming in.

  25. This year I would like to get better grades, preferably all A's and get a better ranking. I need to start doing all my homework as soon as I get home. Instead of the last minute. Plus I hate studying, so I kinda need to work on that also. I was actually thinking about going out for the dance team, but I'm not so sure anymore. I do tennis, which is really fun! Except we run, quite a lot and I'm not a fan of running. It really don't matter to me what grade I'm in, unless I'm a senior. I took some higher classes this year so I hope I get good grades in there. I want to be a Nurse in my future so I need science and math! I hope it's a good year!

  26. I think my expectations for this next year as a high school student are to do good in all my classes and pay attention. After last year almost failing i got scared of what my future holds, of course high school is the gate way to a bright and great future. I will be nice like always lol, and i will be sure to succeed in my grades. I'm sure if i stay focused this year should be as easy as 1,2,.....8..uh yeah. :)

  27. Sophomore year has been kinda boring lately. I miss being a freshman because it was exciting and there was a new school. Also the work and curriculum was easy for me. Right now I'm doing cross country again and I'm thinking about doing dance team and soccer. I wanna try and get A really high score on the ACT over the next three years. Then my plans after high school is to go to college either for Culinary School or a teaching degree. After that I hope to marry a wealthy man!

  28. Being a shophomore to me means more independence, freedom, smarts, and strength. Of course I still live under my parents roof, so I still need to abide by their rules, but I have gotten more privileges since I was a freshman. It will require lots of hard work and brain power, though. Starting this new year will be a great experience for all of us at Branson High, and for you seniors, make the best of your last year in high school!

  29. No-mans-land is worse than I thought it would be. It's super boring and I feel like we aren't even here! I only like my English class and all the people in it, but I hate all the other ones. I don't feel any smarter or bigger, but I do feel like I will get better grades this year. I won't be doing any sports because I am too busy with dance. It takes up all of my life! In the future I would love to go to college for Marine Biology!

  30. 32. For Sophomore year I'm hoping to do good on grades. I would like to have better attendance then I did last year. Doesn't exactly feel any different then it did last year. Hope that will change soon... I'm looking forward to some of the trips I'm planing on taking with the school this year! Super excited for everything!

My goals for this year is to get better grades in all my classes. I also want to be a mechanic. i think its going to be fun. I love working on cars and getting to know cars.

  34. As a sophomore i feel like i have more experienced, and i think life is going by two fast it was just like yesturday i was in kindergarden and said 'i cant wait to be in high school.'Well here i am and it is great, even tho last year i though that we had to much homework.Sophie12 and me are going out for soccer again last year we had so much fun :).I think this year is going to be as fun as last year or better. In the future i would like to go to collage, and be a photographer.

  35. I'm not entirely sure what to be in the near future but, I'm only a sophomore I'm not supposed to know yet. This year will definitely be fun and I still feel like a freshman because all the freshman's this year are taller than me. :/ I do plan on learning as much as i possibly can in this year's time and more for the up coming years. Friends of mine have said that somethings I say are wise but,I don't get how when it's just common sense. Oh well! I do plan on going out for the girls soccer team with Wilson ;) lol. I made the team last year and hope for the best that I do this year... I plan on keeping all my grades as A's of course and be outgoing....Heck yea of course :D and I'm looking forward to your class. XxlovesxxpiexX and I are buddies! (:

  36. After being gone from public school for 2 years I still don't know if I am truly ready to be back or not. Even if I am not, I will surely try my hardest to get to the point where I am ready. I'll be trying to achieve more than I had before I left but it will definitely take a lot of time, work, and effort. Sadly I do not think I will partake in any sports or activities because I fear it might take time away from other important school work to be done. I'm glad to be back though.

  37. Teaching again. I guess the real question is, how do you feel being a teacher again? I do not feel no wiser , older, taller, or anything in that matter but i am trying to inprove my grades as well as my behavior. I am expecting this year to be the conplete oppisite then last year so i can leave my sophmore with a good record. I would love to have my teachers this year look at my teachers last year (exept mrs. schup) and laugh at them. i have many of goal but i only plan on working one at a time and letting life take its course.

  39. It feels good not to be a little freshman anymore. I am older, wiser, more experienced, and taller. I am going to participate in baseball and my goals are to have good grades. I don't think I am going to discover a new love for literature. I would like to see myself accomplish good grades and make new friends.

  40. Sophomore year is alot different I think because everyone has kind of branched out on their own and taken not just the core classes like freshman year, but advanced classes or fine arts, etc. This year I am on the cheer squad and might be doing FFA. My goals this year is to pass all my classes because this year i chose classes that are a little too hard for me. Also being a sophomore helps you decide what kind of field you want to go into because you have a wider variety of classes you can take.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Not being a "little freshman" doesnt really feel different.I do know that the freshman are annoying! I am going to join FFA! booyah!I also am aiming for all A's this year!I think this class is going to be fun, its one of the more upbeat classes! Im really looking forward to what is to come during the year! (:

  43. i really don't feel much change as a sophomore. But i do kinda like not being called a dumb freshmen, and yes just taller not nothing else. My expectations for this year are really just to pass and enjoy life.I also do not want to discover a new love for literature because that means i would want to read more and i honestly do not want to do that.

  46. So far, being a sophomore doesn't seem very different from being a freshmen. It does feel good not to be at the bottom of the school though. This year, I think I would like to get better grades than I did last year. Also, maybe make new friends and hang out with a variety of people, instead of just staying in a small group of friends. I don't plan on doing any clubs or anything, but I'm not exactly sure yet.

  47. I really don't feel any different than I did last year, really. I only plan on joining Japan club, (Still don't know who will bw leading it.) as well as Chess club. My goals are really to just not nearly fail like I did last year. I had so much trouble with two of my classes last year, US History and English I, so I'm hopeing I do better this year. I don't know what I may need to acomplish this, but I will try to the best of my abillity.

If i keep my grades up I can participate in my favorite sport, Cross Country. I don't think I'll be in any other team or club this year. I'm not sure I could keep up with all the extra work if i did.

This year I want to improve my social skills. I NEED to get better at English so I'm going to try my best this year! I want to see myself get good grades! I'm going to do that by going to school and trying my best, but most of all, actually doing my homework lol!

Also i wasn't getting called the anooying name of little freshman anymore because that got old pretty quick last year.So all in all id say im lmuch more confident thei school year and will probably continue felling better about highschool each year I become older.

  66. It feels a lot better being a Sophmore. Now I don't get crap for being a Freshman which is a HUGE weight off my shoulders. I have a very different lookon life this year. I'm going to try to get the best grades I can although I already have a plan for what I'm doing for college....well, I have 3 other blogs to do so...yeah.

  68. I would side with Zeus cause he has dominant powers over everyone. He would protrect me agaist any troubles and i would be known with loyalitie every where. I wouldnt have to worry about alot of things either. I wouldnt wanna side with Hades cause hes the god of the underworld which is bad. SuperMan10 3rd hour

  70. Me being a sophomore. I feel more experienced. I've been through. Some very life changing, things have occured. This year im trying to get all of my homework turned in. I'm not nearly as naive. I feel smarter in every way possible. I have so many good influences on my life. Also there is very many bad influences. It's up to me to pick those out. I'm just trying to get my life together before its to late and i'm 40, No place to live and looking for Illegal substances. I dont want to go down that path. I want to be an architect one day. and be able to share my wealth with my parents, my future wife and kids, My family.

  71. _Cheer47_ I think being a sophomore is alot better than last year. For one, i got to pick all my classes and teachers this year. But a downfall is that the new freshman can really get on your case. This year, my goal is to get better grades than last year and raise my GPA. I also was thinking about going spanish club.
