Online Journal Entry 2

“Every person is the creation of himself, the image of his own thinking and believing. As individuals think and believe, so they are.” ~Claude M. Bristol
Ah, personal narratives ... aren't they going to be fun?! All that focus on YOU: What YOU think, how YOU feel, how YOU've grown and changed! What would YOU think if I said we were going to share them with the class? Excited? Nervous? Remember, we are a Classroom Community!! We are here to share with each other, support each other, encourage each other, and celebrate with each other!!  Seriously, it is going to be fun and each one of you has an AMAZING story to share:  The Story of YOU!!  For this week, to practice sharing a story from your life let's start with something easy:  Write a journal entry describing one event from your summer break.  It can be your funniest story, your best summer moment, your worst summer moment, your boringest (Is that a word?  No?  Fine,  your most boring or dullest) experience, your most challenging event, ANYTHING!!  Pick one quick story about YOU and tell us all about it.  Remember, an online journal entry MUST be at least a good paragraph long.

One more thing, if your Display name gives away ANY part of your first or last name, YOU NEED TO PICK A NEW ONE!!  Anonymous, people; it means a name that does NOT identify you in any way.  Work with me here.  If your display name does not fit this description, go to your dashboard (top right corner or to blogger.com) and choose EDIT PROFILE.  Scroll down to DISPLAY NAME and pick something that cannot be traced back to you.  I was lenient the first week; this week I will not publish anything with your name (or last name, or part of your name, or nickname) in it.  And be sure to tell me what you choose--that is, after all, how you receive your grade for these!  :)

This summer I had my driver's ed class. I also went to moonshine beach and got sunburned, everywhere but my legs. Throughout the summer I hung out with 2 of my besties. Threw a party for my sister. I also watched my little sister while my parents were at work and went to the landing. that is what i did over the summer.

I get really nervous talking infront of a croud... so I really don't want to have to share my personal narrative!! This summer had been fun most of the time.. but boring the rest of the time! I rode four wheelers, hung out with friends and family, swam, and went to Arkansas! One funny part of my summer was when I asked my Dad what the handle thingy(emergency brake) was for.. so he pulled it while we were going like 35 mph and we a complete turn on the road!Almost wet myself completely!!!! A really fun part of our vacation was when me and my best friend Hannah raced people in a mud bog!! The mud was up to your thighs so you weren't physically able to run.. so you pretty much had to swim through the mud! I was in first all the way til the very end when the girl behind me's mud on her side got shallower than mine!!!! Sooo much fun!:D

  7. my summer was pretty different then any other summer i've ever had before. It started out with a broken leg. i was playing capture the flag, and was running back with the flag and slid with my leg locked into a sement ledge. I heard a pop an saw a bone bumping out. i had a cast for most of the summer so it was kind of boring....

  8. During most of my summer I played baseball. It took up most of my summer, but I got to go to the lake a few times. Most of the time when I wasn't playing baseball I just stayed at home because I was do tired. My favorite part of summer was getting to play at KU.

  10. Oh lets see here, my summer was kinda boring.. theres not a lot I can say, my summer was not what I thought was going to be because I wanted to get my license but just to find out right when I went in on my sixteenth birthday that I couldn't get it because I haven't had my permit for six months! I was aggravated because I had plans to go see my family with my new car but I couldn't :( so now I have to wait till December eighth to get my lisence.. But other than that it was an alright summer but I didn't do much at all.

My summer was pretty boring all and all. I didn't have much to do, so all I did really was sleep in and hang out with my friend B. Towards the end of June though, my Mom went to Chicago with out me. (She claimed I would not fit in the car, as she was bringing a couple of people back with her.) My Grandpa (Paw Paw as I like to call him.) came up from Louisiana to spend some time with me. That's pretty much a 12 hour car ride from here. I didn't do much after that, though.

  13. This summer was pretty boring, discluding the fact that we went swimming a lot at the creeks. I also went to St. Louis for my consoltation for surgery. Gonna have it in January. So excited!!! Well, I pretty much babysat my lil' cousins while their mom went to photoshoots. She's a photographer, now expecting! ;)

  14. This summer I mostly babysat. I babysat everyother week from 6:30am to 7:30pm. I watched a two year old boy named jayce. Overall he was a pretty good kid but It did get boring and I dont think I would do it agian. Besides babysitting I would go swimming with Kayla a lot. I visited the rec plex pool and went out on the boat with my family. Next summer Im planning on getting a real job.

  15. This summer I went to the lake and me and my family rented jet skis. We rode them around every where it was warm and not a cloud in the sky. We found a huge boat and followed it. These were the biggest waves I have ever ridden I jet ski on. The first time I went over the wave I almost fell off because it was so ridiculous. That was probably one of my best summer moments :)

  16. This summer I went to Illinois! I visited my family for two whole weeks! I had so much fun. I made new friends and went swimming at my grandma's pool! It's always sad when you have to leave, but I kind of excited to come home and see my Branson friends! I hung out with Hannah a bunch! We went to the landing, went swimming and had our lazy days at each other's house! I hope next summer will be as fun as this one was!

  18. I do not really like getting up in front of the class, but i do like the idea of sitting at a table and switching every couple minutes. My summer was alright. I worked a lot with my parents. My brother, sister-in-law, and my 10 month old niece gave us a suprise visit for my dad's birthday. I played tennis a couple times, and realized i bad i was when it was tennis season and i havn't played in a while. I went to Silver Dollar City with some friends and White Water. Talk about hot life guards. I'm a teenage girl, what else do you expect? But my summer was pretty fun. I lost some weight. Then gained it all back. But that's ok, i'm skinny anyways. That was totally my summer!

  20. OU-Sooner: Great job catching my spelling error! I fixed it and bonus points to you. I do maintain that it was simply a typo and not a usage error, but it was an error none-the-less. Good eye! :)

Five-O: Half an answer get half the credit. Details, details. Think "journal entry." You mentioned, "just the hospital couple of times." Seriously?? Sounds like a story there!

RIKU: Nice opener; it definitely caught my attention! Less random space-filling thoughts, more details on the real stuff. Still, I liked the enthusiasm! :)

  21. This summer, I went boating A LOT. I loved to cliff dive, ride on tubes, and just enjoy being with my family! It's so scary if you look straight ahead while falling down off the cliff. It feels like you're about to hit a spiked platform and die, which would not be good, but it was still such a rush! I also sang quite a bit this summer. I went to Arizona and sang for some old friends I have there. They told me that I have a great voice, and that I should keep on singing and maybe try to sing for a career! I've always wanted to do that, though. It was a great experience, and I hope next summer will be even better!

  22. okay, well to start off, this is XxlovesxxpiexX, I couldn't figure this out to say my name instead of anonymous. soo yeah. Something crazy that happened this summer, would have to be, when I went to Cocoa Beach, Florida. We rode the waves a lot when we were there, which was fun... Until I got hurt. What happened, was the undertoe of the wave pulled me under a huge wave, and the wave toppled over me and it tumbled me until my face hit the bottom of the ocean, resulting in a black eye, and my cheek still has a swolen spot now. The day after that, I found out I had a busted blood vessel in my eye, but it didn't hurt... but yeah, That's my story from the summer. That was my main event this summer.

    once again, this is XxlovesxxpiexX

Even my mom and dad were letting there inner kid out,it was great watching them. After we got back are sleeping times were way off,but its all good because we had a great time. :)

  27. Well, most of my summer was spent working. I worked doubles everyday for a couple of weeks. It was pretty exhausting, but i made a metric truckload of money. And as everyone knows, everything costs money! You gotta work hard to play hard.

  28. This summer for me wasn't very eventful. One of my big highlights was going to Kansas with my dad, brother, and cousin. Kansas is where my family is from so we went to see our deceased family member's graves. I learned ALOT about my family tree and even found out my great great grandmother was the first white girl born in Kansas. I might even be related to King Edward the II of England! It was very exciting and I had a good trip.

  29. Over summer break me and my family went to disney world. It was awesome except for the 18 hour drive. we went to magic kingdom which wasn't that fun, but my little brother had a blast. We also went to hollywood studios and rode the Tower of Terror. We spent the rest of our time in Florida going to universal studios and the beach.it was an awesome vacation.

  31. This summer, I babysat my siblings a lot, and went to the lake with my friends practically everyday. Most of my best memories come from times at the lake. Other than that, I hung out with friends, and caught up on sleep. I know school has just started, but I already can't wait for next summer.

  32. This summer I got to do a lot of fun things but one of ny favorite part was getting to travel with my basketball team and play in tournaments all over Arkansas. The biggest tournament we in was the 15boat and under nation tournament in little rock. When we were in the tournament we got to hang out in little rock for a week. Even though we didn't do as well as we had hoped it was still a great experience being able to play with the top players in the nation that are my age.

My idea on standing up and reading to the class i guess I wouldn't mind it but then at the same time I don't wanna get up there and humiliate myself in front of everyone. My summer was amazing I got a job and earning money towards insurance on my car yay not haha :) and then I got to see all my friends and family this summer which was awesome because most summers I take trips and I'm not back till school starts and I was glad to stay and spend time with friends!! :)

  37. Besides a few larger events such as going to Saint Louis with my grandparents, my Summer was very drab and boring. The period of making the decision on whether or not I would like to go back to public school is probably the biggest event of my summer, with me battling with my mind on the pros and cons of it. I shouldn't actually say if I "would like to go back to public school" or not because I don't really enjoy going to school and I'm not sure if anyone truly does. Still, choosing to go to school for 3 more years is probably a better choice than working at McDonalds for the rest of my life.

  38. So I just checked to see if my comment posted earlier and it didn't soo this is kinda late i guess..

This summer I went to my dad's. I worked a lot of them summer. Made some good money though, so it was worth it. Other than that I just chilled with friends, slept a lot, and was in a wedding.

  39. When I was visiting family in California, we all decided to go to the beach(Santa Montica Beach)and we all purchased boogie boards, to have something to do in the water. My dad was teaching me how to dive through the waves with one at the time being and I still wasn't confident that i knew what i was doing. Later in the day at the beach I realized it was high tide because the waves were becoming a lot bigger than what they were in the morning. I was still learning how to dive through one when this huge wave was forming and my dad told me to dive through this one... I told him no but i tried it anyways and so when I attempted to jump through the wave it picked me up and held me underwater, spinning. All i saw was mucky, green water all around as I was desperately in need for a gasp of air. I thought I was gunna drown when the wave finally broke and let me break free from its grasp. I was very frightened of what I've just experienced but instead of being done with swimming and having fun, I just ran back to my dad and swam around and had lots of fun.

One day this summer, I came home from work and my mom was crying. I found out that my father was in the hospital 5hours away, where he lived. Once i found out about that, I called of work for the next week and drove down to where he was. I got to the hospital at 3am. The first thing he told me was "The things I have to do to get my daughter to come see me"! He was doing much better and even got to come home the next day.

  41. I liked doing the personal narritive but i dont like getting in front of people and telling my life because what i wrote was sorta personal and emotional, and if i read it i think i would cry, but reading it could encourage people =). I do get nervous though when it comes to getting up in class and having to talk=O. A event from my summer that i like the most was hanging out with my youth group a lot, we did community work and went to the creek. It was a blast. We caught a posionist snake because it tried to bite someone in the water, we ended up cutting its head off. At the creek there were dead fayed fish from fishing season, it was soooo nasty! My youth pastor grabed a hand full and threw them at me. It was sick! Sadly it was fun=)

  48. I have lots of things that have drastically changed my look on things. This summer I learned a lot about the meaning of life,my purpose in this world and I have an entire plan on how to start the fantastic journey to world peace.(: My first story is about one of my best friends and how she basically saved my life. There were a lot of personal things that couldn't be left out and at first I was kind of nervous but then I realized, most of the people in this "community" don't know me or how I became me. Not like they care but still. I want this to help people somewhat understand me. But it's not like I'm misunderstood. Nobody's misunderstood. That's just what people say when they don't like who they are...

Well, he decided to jump into the water and he started to drown so my moms bf had to jump in and get him and boy was he MAD!!!! lol i thought it was hilarious.

  50. Summer, the best time of the year, time for short sleeves, shorts, swimming, friends, family, and for me my girlfriend. My summer was full of amazing times with my girlfriend. We went swimming a lot, to a show, to the landing, and anywhere just to hangout. But my favorite time hmm... this is a hard question because they were all so fun. I guess my favorite time or times would be the two times i went to her house. We hungout all day just talk, laughing, and smiling. We laid in bed and just watched movies and had a lot of good laughs. So my summer was full of amazing time with my sweet, amazing, beautiful girlfriend. :)

  52. This summer has been. Great on top of the worst. I meen my summer first week was horrible. It was horrible because my mom had a heart attack. Than you know everything gradually got better. Before that my dad had gotten his finger cut off. But we were slowly getting better. It was basically just me all summer. I wasnt the happiest person in the world. But than i meen i had my friend that seen me at my worst times. I even locked him in my closet. Not jokingly we had issues. And He was there for me when she was in the hospital. Than he left the U.S. Than for awhile it seemed every time i got close to someone. Emotionally. Physically. Never seen them again. But than my bro came back into the states and had this.. Life changing talk with me and i swear if i could individually talk to everyone. And if everyone would be serious.. instead of the way they are. I swear its the solution to world peace. I'm slowly getting my life back together and i hope it gets better and its successful. Thank you, 3rd hr. JB

  54. _Cheer47_ This summer, a great experience I had was when the whole cheer squad rented out this boat called spirit of America. This boat goes out in the middle of the lake and then we anchor it. Theres a giant slide, two canoes, and a trampoline that we played on for hours. Afterwards, we had a great get-together at the park and had a picnick with all the cheerleaders and their moms.

  56. Well this summer I had to go up to Utah for a backpacking trip up in the southern canyons. I was kind of excited because I would be with my best friends hiking in the good old Utah canyons. I did not know what was ahead of me at the time. So I packed a few pairs of good hiking clothes and shoes, and I flew back to Utah with my dad. When I got back to my house I packed everything necessary for hiking and I was ready to go. Me and my friends and some of their parents woke up and packed out things in the car and then we hit the road. It was about a five hour drive and we we're extremely bored so we played "Dare". Its like "Truth or Dare" but just the "Dare" part. Because come on, we're guys. So after endless punching and doing other ridiculous things, we were finally there. It was 107 degrees outside, but I could handle it. Our leaders said it would be about an hour hike to actually get in to the canyon. They were wrong. It took us 4 hours and on top of that we were hiking in pure sand. Which kills like no other. We were also almost out of water too. So when we finally did get into the canyon we were tired and sore and our feet were covered in blisters. We decided to rest by a tree. Surprisingly it was really green, which I knew that we were getting closer to a water source. When we decided to get up and go again I noticed a tarantula on my friend Harrisons shoulder. I told him not to move and then I hit it off with my cap. As we were hiking the plants were getting greener and greener and it started to get humid. We were all excited and our hopes were up. Until we realized the good water was on the other side of the canyon. Well we hiked another good four hours until we reached the grand arch. We found a spot to set up camp right next to a natural spring of water. Well we camped there for two days and while we were sore and tired, we noticed the scenery and the cool echoe effect of the canyon. It was super cool. Well we all decided that if we were going to make it out alive that we would need to get up at 4 in the morning. That was probably the best decision of my life. Surprisingly we cut our hiking time in half going back. It only took us 4 hours and by the time we got back the sun had started getting really hot. We were super lucky. Im not even going to say everything that happened as we were hiking because it was gruesome and awful. But yeah, it was very memorable. Peace

  57. My best or maybe weirdest summer memory would be me and my friends playing pool everynight. then we would randomly decide to go on a midnight walk. well one night we went on the walk.as we were walking we turn a corner and as we continue to walk down this long road a huge homeless man came out of the woods following us. when we saw him we busted out into a full sprint running to my house although we out ran him it was pretty creepy.

And we all swam during the day. at night we played pictionary. this was the funnest thing i did over the summer.

  59. i wud not like to share our personal narrative in front of the class and over the summer i went to Nebraska for my church anniversary went rented these big church and we invited local church and the place was packed i usually play the piano for my church but never had i played in front of a big crowd like that so moments before we started playing my hand were sweating i was super nervous because i didn't wanna mess up as we started playing i didn't look up i just looked at my piano but then i built up confidence and i looked up and i just closed by eyes and kept the rhythm,as the service was over every one was telling me good job and even a pastor from Nebraska asked me if i cud play the piano for the church so i was really happy.that was one of the very happiest things i did of the summer. - Flash
