In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is a man who commands our attention. An unconventional hero, Atticus is a model of courage, humility, and empathy; he is a true example we all can learn from. Each of our lives have been touched by special people we know and love. For this week's journal entry, I want you to think about someone who has a great influence on you? A friend? A family member? A boss? A teacher (not me--you will not get bonus points!!)? Who has been a real-life role model for you? Tell me: Why are they special and how has knowing them made you a better person? Be sure to tell them too, if you can. Then, while you are out and about, busy living your life, remember, you never know who might be looking up to you! Have a fabulous winter break and a very Merry Christmas!! :D

There are many people I can call out on when stating who I look up to. My brotherly figure, two intellectual friends on opposite ends of the country, and perhaps the companion of my sister are all people who I am influenced by. They all give me reason to keep trying to succeed in life, despite the times of quarrel between us.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Hmmm, the person that has greatest influenced me was my Aunt Micki. She taught me a lot in the few years that I knew her before she passed, living on a campground for most of your life is hard when friends come and go constantly on a weekly basis so you start to distance yourself from everyone, I did. I never really hung out with many of the kids that came around, I was always outside exploring the couple acres that were there, I always had my dog with me. One day I saw these cute little long haired chihuahuas and I asked the lady if I could pet them, well that one day led to a friendship with Micki. I never really knew what certain words meant because I was a little bit of a sheltered child in the fact that I didn't watch a lot of tv or get on the internet. I would say a word and get royally chewed out for it then told why it was bad << I think I'm more or less rambling, oh well XD back to the point. My Aunt taught me that friends are something everyone needs, that respect and give everyone chances, even if others say not too. I am glad I followed her mato because if I would've listened to what others said I wouldn't have my boyfriend right now, heck I wouldn't have many of my friends that I have right now. When there is nothing else to believe in it's best to remember what she told me and how much she loved everyone. She would do anything if she knew someone needed it or somehow had gotten hurt and she would help them so much with nothing in return, she wouldn't accept money and barely accepted gifts because she had her honor and kindness by her side. For a rough looking old lady ^^ she sure had a HUGE heart for others, I hope when I get older that I can do all the things she did for others. - R.I.P. Aunt Micki.
ReplyDeleteSomeone who has influenced me would have to be my uncle. He went from being a highschool dropout to getting himself in college and getting a degree and now he's making around 350,000 a year creating computer programs for apple google and Harvard University. Seeing what he has accomplished when he did have nothing i can really look up to him. So id have to say my uncle is my hero.

The person I look up to most in life is my Aunt Shari. She has ALWAYS been the one person to lead me in the right direction. Whenever life gets hard, I always know that I have her there to look at the positive. She didn't have that great of a childhood, but she definitely succeded in life. "Money isn't everything" She is the mom of two of my favorite cousins, only because thats how she raised them!!

ReplyDeleteI know this might sound cheesy but one of the many people in my life that influence me would have to be my boyfriend. lol i know how weird that sounds but its true. He goes through so much but he still keeps going, and he always helps not only me but all of the people in his life. He has taught me that no matter how bad life gets, there is always someone out there who cares for you and will be there for you no matter what you say or do. I have so much respect for him for that reason. All though most people dont like him, or see him as a bad person, he is a really great guy. He doesnt care what people say about him, he is always going to stand up for what he believes in. :)
Merry Christmas!!!
The person i really look up to and who influences me the most would be my mom. I look up to her because she has taught me so many things and she helps my little sister with her disabilities. She is constantly watching her and taking care of her. I find my mom to be a very caring person. And she tries to do everything she can for my family and is always there.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my boyfriend has made a huge impact on my life because I used to be a bad person, and I did alot of bad things. But when I met my boyfriend he helped me become a better person and actually make me wake and and realize that I have a bright future ahead of me. And if I kept doing the things I was doing I wouldn't do anything with my life. So I'm glad that I met my boyfriend because he cares about me alot and makes me happy. He's been there through alot of tragic and horrible times in my life, he's always been the one to pick me up when I was down. So all in all I'm very thankful for him and how he's changed me to be the person I am today.

A person I look up to would have to be my grandma. She was the best, me and my sisters would go to her house every single weekend when we were little kids. We never took advantage of her. She did have it rough when she was raising 9 kids, but i love her to death. She was always nice to everybody, never disaplined us, and was always thinking of others instead of herself. She was and still is the best grandma ever! She passed away about 8 years ago..4 months...and 14 days ago in our house. She was very special to everybody! I love you grandma!!!

My grandpa is someone that I look up to, he went through a lot of stuff and came from nothing. He lived in Mississippi when he was younger and came from a poor struggling family, he managed to get straight A's all through school and got a good scholarship to college. After finishing college with all A's again he went to Grad school at Harvard, he became a business man, made a lot of money and retired early. He always pushes me to do the best I can in school no matter how tuff it is. I look up to him because I know anything is possible because he did it.

My role nodel would have to be my dad. He always teaches me how to do stuff. Shows right from wrong so I can be very moral. Even though he is god at alot of things that most people dream of he does not even brag about. I think becuase of his humbleness he has achieved al those things. I believe that all dads should be their son's role model.

I look up to two of my six siblings. My brother peter is a great example to look up to when it comes to school. Hes always been very good about the way he spends his time. Peter has always been very smart. It proves to spend your time wisely. Today hes making the big bucks and is on his way to becoming an engineer. Emily, my older sister is also someone I respect. She as a great personality and very genuine. Shes slow to getting angry and quick to listen. I love all my family but these two people have been the most inspirational people in my life.
ReplyDeletei have lots of role models life i dont have anyone i just praise. i want to be a role model thats why i dont do that crazy stuff. to me a role model dosnt matter what they did its the message it sends to your head. if i see someone drunk i say nope not me it motivates me more to make sure i dont end up like that and i am able to be a person that someday my children will look up to.

Shes always teaching me to do the right thing, and I look up to her because of that. I also think my friends have a big influence on me because I wouldnt do a lot of stuff if it weren't for them. ReplyDeleteSomeone that I look up to is, Destiny... Destiny is a great friend and I know that she will always be their to wait and listen for my cry of help and need. One person that has influenced me is an outdoor specialist I meet in Rehab. He took me and several acquaintances on a camping trip for one week. He is a very wise man, very humble and courages. He influenced me because one thing we talked about was how school is important and how he gave up on school, and how much of an impact it has on our lives. That caught my attention! I never knew how important school and knowledge was intel I met him. I want to be as wise as him one day..

Hi652: Nice long entry. Write me a real entry for some credit. I normally really enjoy reading your blog entries because you have a great perspective to offer and you so rarely share it in class. I feel cheated by this post. :(
ReplyDeletethe people that i learn life lessons from the most are my older friends, and my parents. my parents usaly teach me the more importat ones and my friends the less impportant ones, but i am glad that i have two places to learn from
ReplyDeleteSomeone I look up to is my grandma. She is a very nice person, and she know how to make you feel better when you are down. I really think my grandma gets me more thgen my own mom. I just connect better with my grandma. I can tell her anything and she would give me help if I needed it. I think she is the best grandma you could have.
ReplyDeleteThe people in my that are my role models would be my dad and grandad. I want to be like both of them some day when I grow up because that have been great parents, husbands, they both are hard workers, men of God, and are humble. I think that it would be great someday to have these traits as a man. Those are just two of the people that I look up to but there are many more and those are just a few of the great things about my dad and grandad
ReplyDeleteBroVonDudeEnshtine
ReplyDeleteMy hero would be my dad. My dad has been through things that would have drivin any other man insane. Along with severe back, knee, and shoulder problems,he has dealt with debt, and other such finacial problems. My dad has always been there for me, even when it was all he could do not to lose it. The set of values my dad has given me, will always stay with me. From his musical abilities, to the great man he is, i have always wanted to be just like him
Someone who serves as a role model for me in some aspects is my brother. He's got amazing insight on some things, but for the most part, has a lot of lessons i can learn. He's not perfect, by far, and i despise him sometimes. But respectively, he has quite a bit I can learn from him. And I'm sure I could teach him a thing or two... but that's not the point!
ReplyDeleteI look up to my brother more than anyone. Even though he is a Junior in college now, he was and still is a great student. He even got to meet the President at the Rose Garden because of his efforts. He is an amazing friend and the best Brother. We have lots of fun because of his good and humorous personality and I am proud of him and hope i end up as good as he did.
ReplyDeletemy special person that i learned from and keep learning about would be my grandpa. he is always showing me a better way to do things and how to present yourself doing it. he has also been the one to help me out the most in hard time. that is my real life super hero

ReplyDeleteSomeone who I look up to is my mom. She has been through so much. She has been through many different jobs but she still trys her hardest to make sure that me and the rest of our family has everything we need. She puts food on our table and a roof over are head. She sacrifices things she might want just to make other people satisfied. She trys to make sure we are always happy and get to do things we want. Although shes not perfect and might make istakes i still look up to her. She has done a good job raising three kids on her own.
My best role model is my grandma. She has shown me everything that i know. She has shown me how to cook. Also that when you cook you dont need a recipe to cook, expecailly when you dont have much in the frig of in the cabniets. as well as how to garden and everything else i know. with what she has done for me i dont know how i couz ever thank her for what she has done.
ReplyDeleteI really look up to my friend Jason. He lives in Utah but whenever im there hes always really awesome to hang out with. What im gonna say about him is a total cliche but its true. Hes nice to everyone and hes almost always happy. He treats everyone as fair as he can and hes always willing to help anyone. What I like the most is that he builds you up. (you know. compliments and stuff) and mostly, hes an awesome guy.

The most influential person in my life would definetely have to be my brother because he is very talented with his music, and I hope he goes far in his life. He is also really funny and I love his humor in his music videos. I am really happy and lucky to have him as my brother and we have lots of fun with each other. And I know that it will not get me any bonus points to compliment Mrs. Snow, but I'm doing it anyways! Thanks for all your hard work, Mrs. Snow! :)

ReplyDeleteA person who ha influenced me greatly is my grandpa.he has taught me wrong from right and how a young lady should act. He taught me respect and he fought for our country. He directs me in the right way and tells me to go for my dreams even if no one else likes it. He is almost 85 and has broken both legs at the same time by falling off someone's house when he was working on it. He has recovered now and he still climbs up high and helps people. He neve gives up on anything or anyone. Sweetpea10
ReplyDeleteI look up to a guy named shay robins. I look up to him mainly because he has all of the characteristics that i strive to have and a personality that attracts people to him. Shay leads my bible study, and has been teaching and mentoring a group of about 15-20 guys every monday morning since 5th or 6th grade. He challenges us to go out and make a difference that week in our school. He is a fun guy to be around but is still a strong christian leader. he also is very athletic. He has recently participated in a triathlon which is when you swim for 2.4 miles, bike for 112 miles, and then run a marathon ( 26.2 miles) without stopping. And those are some of the reasons he is my role model.
