"No kind action
ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example
is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all
directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest
work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind
themselves."~Amelia Earhart
As we have been studying poetry, this week's blog is a little more complicated. Archibald MacLeish once said, "A poem should not mean, but be." Similarly,
this week, you are not going to sit and think, but get up and DO. So,
your blogging assignment is go out and perform a random act of
kindness--a kind act for the benefit of someone else which brings no
profit or honor to yourself. Then come back here and tell us what you
did, how the recipient reacted, and how you felt after you did it. Make
a difference to someone today, then see if it makes a difference in
you!
Love
and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They
bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver. ~Barbara
De Angelis
I offered to help carry a stack of books for a teacher. They looked like they were going to fall out of her hands, but she said she had 'em. The appreciation reciprocated felt nice. Kindness is worth it.

I made homemade cookies for a friend and you could tell they really appreciate it. Even got a hug! I was happy to do it! Small things like this can be so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI helped my mother cook super and then I helped my grandmother take a bath. After doing that I was really happy and felt as that could accoplish anything. My mom was happy and my grandma was just messing around with me saying that I should be a nurse.

I volenteared at a pet shelter! I did this because its somthing I do normally when i have some free time. I volentere because I enjoy helping animals and seeing the look on peoples faces when they bring a new pet home. It makes me feel acomplished, and even though no one personally is giving me anything I get the feel of acomplishment and I also get to here about how the new animal is getting along with its new family. I guess its more of a pride thing =)

Well, the other day, I went out and bought flowers for someone's birthday. I didn't have to get them anything, but I saaw that they were kinda down, so I did. I think it lifted there spirits, at least that's what I could tell from the smile on thier face. It made me feel good to go out and make someone's day, especially birthday, a little bit better.

ReplyDeletei like holding the door open for people when we go into or leave a building. it amazes me on how many people actually say thank you. which is not very many. i still feel good about my self no matter if they say thank you or not. i just wish more acts of kindness would wash off on other people.
ReplyDeleteBalckwolf
The the other day I was at home by my selve and I noticed there was 4 or 5 dishes in the sink so I loaded them in the dish washer and started it. No one noticed that I did it but I knew that I did so that made me feel good

I miss you Mrs. Snow and I decided I would do a blog. Today i actually helped out a few members of my church with there house, lawn, guardian, and helped my church clean up from the vandlism. THen when i was at my childs doctor appointment there was a family who was walkin and the kids didnt have much so i gave them a ride and helped her carry her 2 infants inside. I seen there was nothing for the kids to eat so i took them all out to eat, bought them a fridge full of food (with help fom a few members of my church, my wic, and foodstamps lol)and alot of canned food, gave the oldest one my old clothes i had before i got pregnant and my brothers and sisters old clothes to them and took there mom to the thrift store and helped them out. I offered to babysit while she works and help her out. There mother was so blessed and and thanked me over and over again and is going to church with me Sunday. The familys from my church offered to pay me but im a nice kid now and wouldnt accept. It made me feel so good about myself and made me want to help more familys out. (so i joined a club to help homeless)It made me feel so wonderful and usefull.
ReplyDeleteBooBoo(:

DeleteI was at church the other day and the place was packed full. I was just minding my own business when all of a sudden, I see and elderly woman just standing there, so I gave her my seat.
I held the door open for a lady that was having trouble opening to get in. She smiled and thanked me. I felt really good after cause I knew I had helped someone out.

My act was that I fixed the door to my grandmas shed. She felt happy when it was some because before I fixed it it wouldn't close. I felt good after I fixed it because she wouldn't have been able to fix it herself.

My neighbor is a single mom who works two jobs and the other day she was telling me about her best friends dinner party and she really wanted to go but it was a no kids aloud kind of party and it would be past the kids bed time so i offered to baby sit for the night for no charge. so i had to deal with a 6 and 9 year old fight and whine all night but it was worth it cause now she helps me out when i need her and i got a friend out of it.

This week i tried to do something nice, but it kind of backfired i was in books a million and there was someone in front of me that forgot their wallet. they only had one book so i offered to pay for it for them, then they got really offended and said, "i don't need your charity." and some other choice words and stormed out of the store screaming. so i put the money that it would of cost in the tip jar and then the guy walks out and said, "ah you don't have to do that." well i only put in 5 dollars aand he pulled out a 20 to give back to me and then gave me my book, a coffee, and a dannish for free. I tried to correct his mistake but he wouldn't have it. so no matter how much i tried to perform a random act of kindness the universe just wouldn't let me.

Yikes! I've heard it said that 'no good deed goes unpunished,' but that sounds a little extreme!! At least you tried! :)

ReplyDeleteAt church I was feeling a little down. As I was leaving church, I was walking to the door and saw an older woman with a cane needing help from her husband to walk. I didn't really even think, I ran ahead and held the door open. She smiled widely and said "thank you, god bless" and it put me in a better mood for the rest of the night. :)

ReplyDeleteMy mother just got a new hair cut. she isn't that happy about it. She was talking about how she might like it better if she had a cute hair clip. She asked if i had one, but i didn't. So the next day, I went to her favorite store and got her a clip that she would like. When I came home, I gave it to her and she was sooo hahppy! Then, I did her hair for her and she felt much better about it. :)

On Thursday I helped my mom clean up my house. She kept thinking I was sick because of me helping out! She was very happy with me and a got allowance for it, which normally doesnt happen :) I did get a really good feeling inside, like I made her proud. Even though it was only cleaning up my house... no biggy! I think I should do it more though. I feel more relaxed in my house whenever it't clean :)
ReplyDeleteThe other day i did the dishes for my mom. She was very happy and relieved that she wouldnt have to do the dishes anymore considering all the other house work she had to. I was happy to help my mom out and i felt good afterward.

This week I made my grandparents dinner because they don't really make it for themselves often. I live with them and they need a lot of help with stuff so I help them with trash and little things like that, that is hard for them to do themselves. It makes me feel great everytime I do something for them because they have done so much for me in my life so I figured I should pay them back.

I once saw a starbucks cup that said "On Christmas in 2006, customers payed for the person behind them 6 times in a row." So i went to Starbucks and gave 5 dollars towards the order of the person behind me.. and it makes me wonder if they did the same. I don't think anyone was behind them though, sadly. :/
ReplyDeletemy nice act of kindness was to use the tractor and clean up around the church. my pastor was proud of me and really appreciated my work. i felt pretty okay about it cause i got to do what i liked and also got to be outside. i am always a GREAT kid!!!!!!

my act of kindness was i helped the old couple that lived across the street from me move all of there stuff into a truck. they were a nice old couple not like most old people who are mean and old. i did it because they looked like cool people so i took time out of my day to help them. she offered me money and i didnt want to take it but she would not let me take no for an answer. i did it because i felt bad for them. they didnt have any kids with them or anyone else to help them.
ReplyDeletebigC
Awww, good for you, bigC!! :)
DeleteI did something special for my mom on mothers day. I bought her chocolate roses. thats all the money i had. I made her a card like i always do and put a lot of love into it. It's not the money you spend or what you get them it's how much love is put inti it.
ReplyDeleteIn track practice , my friend needed a ride home because their mother was stuck at work and couldn't pick them up. So, to be nice i offered them a ride, plus no one was able to help and give them a ride when asked. When i gave them the ride home they were really thankfull for it and made sure to say thanks multiple times over and over again. it was rather funny, but i was happy for their happiness.

I know this is kinda late, but for Mother's Day I made Mom breakfast. She did thank me, but we got in an argument later that day, if that tells you anything. Other than that I can't think of another that I remember, mostly because I'm trying to hurry so I can eat! Mom made Crab stew tonight!!!
ReplyDeleteToday, I helped an old lady with her groceries. I saw her struggling, asked her if she needed help, and then started putting her things in the back of her car. After that I felt good, and she thanked me for being so sweet. She didn't pay me, but tha's okay. :P

A few weekends ago I decided to help a friend out that I know has been stressing and working a lot lately taking care of her one year old son. So I told her that I would watch her son for a night so she could just chill at home for a little while. I told her that she didn't have to pay me and everything worked out great. Except for the fact that I was exhausted I watched the kid for 3 hours and crashed after. I have no idea how she does it, but she was greatly relieved that I took him off of her hands for a while and was so happy that she ended up paying me.
ReplyDelete--Dare4Distance
I held the door for old people at work the other day and they all said thank you. And it was a good feeling being nice like that. I think the world is a better place with kindness.

My random act of kiddness was this- My friend was telling me she was going to have a boring day in her chemistry class because there are only 11 in there and no one remembered to bring food for the party so the intire hour they would have to sit there with nothing! I didn't think that would be fun so I called my mom and had her go get some soda, cookies, and chips with dip. I brought it to her class before the hour and they were very thankful. It felt really good! even though i have to do some chores at home to make up for it! oh well
ReplyDeleteMe and my sisters made my mom breakfast for Mothers' Day. We made her a cliche breakfast, you know, just eggs, bacon, and toast with jelly. She thanked us all and gave us big hugs. It felt nice to show our mom how much we love her on Mothers' Day.

Well last Thursday my best friend and little brother was taken back to Virginia with his mom and step dad. This has taken a huge tole on me and some of my other friends as well. So, for him i went out and made sure he was remembered, i made sure that nobody in Merriam Woods would ever forget he was here, the impact he had was great and im glad i could be a part of the receiving end. He hasnt found out all me and my other friends have been doing to make sure he is remembered, so i do not know his reaction but i know he would appreciate it.

It was Mother's Day and I was at my sister's apartment. She was having a tough time because she always had to work and watch her one year old child. On top of that her boyfriend left her so you could imagine how depressed she was. I decided to take it into my own hands to clean her house! It was the least I could do considering she is a mother and it's like the hardest job in the world!
ReplyDeleteWhile I was out and about doing my daily business, I had noticed that someone was short on money when making a purchase. It didn't seem like that big of a deal considering the amount it was but I had given them some spare change for them to make the purchase. They thanked me like I had just given them a thousand dollars and then told me, "We need more people like you these days". After hearing that, I felt like I had done something very special.
